Week One at Uni

(shape formed from cardboard and covered with paper, water and glue)
Week one was great. We were sent off to find two words, returned to be given a third, sat down to brainstorm the links between three and see what we could come up with. My words were psychic, fundamental and violet. Can you determine the links between the three?

(finished teacup painted with white paint)

I loved my paper mache giant teacup and would love to made a really big one that could sit in a garden surrounded by a mass of daisies. Just imagine...

Just starting out...

Fruit Bowl (pencil on paper - 1990)

After years of asking myself what if....maybe....should I....could I I've decided to take the plunge. I've started a Uni degree in Contempory Art specialising in Visual Art. Oh what fun!!!

The West Australian and Capsicum (ink on paper - 1990)

Part of the reason is to get those letters after my name. But it's more than that. It's about taking some time out and focussing on myself especially after spending the last 10 years putting all of my efforts and attention into my partner and his endeavours and also our three wonderful children. There is also that part of me that wants to provide a role model to our girls showing them that University is possible at any age. And school is fun.

Boyfriend's Niece (pastel on paper - 1991)

This blog is my own record of my artistic journey starting with images of artwork completed during my high school years, my working career prior to children, the creation of Gingham Daisy - the small business that I have created from a spare room in my house (or many houses as there have been quite a few) since my second daughter was born and now to this new stage in my artistic development. I'm hoping the blog, like my others. will be a motivational thing for me and also provide a record of where my artwork started, it's progression and where it is headed.

Sydney 2000 Profile (ink and pencil on paper - 1997)

Even I don't know where this journey is going to take me I feel as though the world is shifting and a lot of us are beginning some type of life change. With the natural disasters occuring throughout our world it makes me wonder just what is really going on. I feel it, not in a bad way, but definately in a way that I'm aware that we are moving. It feels like a good thing to me, exciting, the start of a new journey and as part of it I want to try looking past the negative and seeing the pretty, the funny, the laughter and the good that is around us...

Blossom and Doilies (acrylic on canvas - 2008)

So here goes...
